DESCRIPTION

The Sea Link is India’s first bridge to be constructed in open-sea conditions.

4.7 km, twin, 4-lane independent carriageway bridge across the open sea.

The major bridge is located at pier P19, close to Bandra. The clear span is 500 metres, with a 50 M cantilevered portion on either end, meeting the approach viaducts.

The pylons are 128 M high, comprised of 4 inclined legs, flaring out from the pier cap to the deck, then leaning in towards the pier centreline, meeting at a junction point below the first cable anchorage.

The smaller bridge is located between piers P25 and P32.

SERVICES PROVIDED / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provided independent consultancy, and a principal surveyor, to supply methodology, training and supervision for Hindustan Construction’s survey teams.

• Worked together with the erection engineer / 3D static modeler – to match construction stage analysis with optimum survey measurement opportunities.

• Supervised sub-contracted anchor box fabrication and deck anchor fabrication, including welding jig designs.
